Ultimate Football Database

Welcome to the Ultimate Football Database, which was created on July 4th, 2012, in an effort to compile just that, the ultimate football database.

It began with the idea of compiling all the information I use as a sports writer (and give me a quick and easy place to find it all), grew into an eight-volume books series called Huddle Up! (Alabama, Michigan, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas and the New York Giants editions), and compounded by the thought: “Gee, what if I did this for every college and pro team?”

Ambitious? Sure.

A fun challenge? Definitely.

Crazy? Quite possibly.

But judging by the reaction, number of early hits that greatly exceeded my expectations, and results, it’s a project that I’m certainly proud of and enjoying.

On August 29th, less than two months after creating the first page I had to essentially start over after apparently breaking the Internet, or at least the site builder I was using. Specifically, despite supposedly having “unlimited pages,” due to the volume of data involved I reached the end of its limits, and, long story short, and had to rebuild the site on another builder. Even the apologetic administrators were surprised.

(Can I put “Broke the Internet” on my resume?)

So what you’re looking at is Ultimatefd.com II, but bigger and better — and if you really want to see something cool try doing a search on your favorite player or coach. But I’m getting ahead of myself.

The site will continually be updated and grow over time, so if you have a suggestion for something you’d like to see added please let me know at mail@ultimatefd.com. Overall, though, please be patient with the continual changes and ongoing expansion.

Onward and upward …
